COMBINED BUREAU FAR EAST (CBFE)

Prior to World War II, British cryptographic operations in Asia were concentrated at Hong Kong and Singapore. Operating under the auspices of the Admiralty, CBFE provided intercept facilities and distributed  processed signals intelligence to authorized recipients. Upon the evacuation of Hong Kong and Singapore in 1941, CBFE was reestablished at Melbourne, Australia.
